Ben Campbell is a young, highly intelligent, student at M.I.T. in Boston who strives to succeed. But one evening, Ben is introduced by his unorthodox math professor Micky Rosa into a small but secretive club of five students, Jill, Choi, Kianna, and Jimmy whom are being trained by Professor Rosa of the skill of card counting at blackjack. Intriged by the desire to make money, Ben joins his new friends on secret weekend trips to Las Vegas where, using their skills of code talk and hand signals, they have Ben make hundreds of thousands of dollars in winning blackjack at casino after casino. Ben only wants to make enough money for the tuition to Harvard and then back out. But as fellow card counter, Jill Taylor, predicts, Ben becomes corrupted by greed and his arrogance at winning which lets his feelings get in the way, and it also puts Professor Rosa, as well as the group, on the radar of a brutal casino security enforcer, named Cole Williams, who holds a personal grudge of some kind against Rosa which threatens to undo everything the students have learned and earned.

Prairie Fever (2008) DVDRip XviD VCDVaULT

Unlike many westerns, this one has an original idea behind it, and it features women in interesting roles.The story is well paced and clearly told and held my interest throughout.
Kevin Sorbo plays Sheriff Preston Biggs, only following a shooting that occurred a couple of years ago during a bank robbery, he's no longer the Sheriff and has just about turned into the town drunk.
Seventeen mail order brides were delivered awhile back and three of those definitely didn't work out. Lettie, Abigail and Blue have apparently all gotten "Prairie Fever" a local term for having gone crazy. The women's tales get explained during the film, and we learn why they're behaving as they are.
Biggs has been hired to take the women to Carson City and put them on a train there, two of them to return home and one of them to be sent directly to an insane asylum.
Add to the mix the fact the two bank robbers have an ax to grind with Biggs, and Frank (husband of Blue) has a brother who talks him into getting his money back, via what was paid to Biggs, along with a mean, old gambler and his beautiful partner having a falling out--who also converge on Biggs and his wagon load of women, and you've got plenty of plot, interesting, 3-dimensional characters and action to carry this fantastic story along; and it all fits together perfectly.

Idiocracy DVD-Rip (2006)

The movie begins with Joe Bauers being recruited for a top-secret military experiment, along with a hooker, Rita, the most average people they could find, to be frozen in place for one year as a test for the future.

The people in charge are arrested, and being a top-secret experiment, nobody else knows about Joe and Rita, and they eventually get cleared out and thrown away.

500 years later, all of America's trash is in one giant pile, with Joe and Rita's capsules at the top. One beer bottle falls ontop of the pile and sends it crashing down, opening the capsules containing Joe and Rita, letting them out for the first time in 500 years.

All of the world has turned stupid, as they soon realize. Joe finds one particularly stupid fellow, who informs him they have invented a time machine. After a long series of troubles, such as becoming the smartest person in the world, then president, saving the world from starvation because everyone uses an energy drink instead of water to grow plants, then saving himself from death and turning the world in his favor, they finally find the time machine - only to find out it is just a theme park ride showcasing the history of Joe's time (very incorrectly).

At Oxford University, a professor and a grad student work together to try and stop a potential series of murders seemingly linked by mathematical symbols.

User's Comment:
For those who haven't read the Oxford Murders, it is a short story about an Argentinean maths student who comes to Oxford only to find that someone has murdered his landlady. The short story delves into mathematical theory in an attempt to solve a series of murders where the murderer leaves symbols, also in a potential series. Being a short story is does lack in depth and this is where this movie has taken this story and expanded on it.

For those who are concerned that maths is not their thing, don't worry. The concepts are very well explained. It would be typical that these complex ideas are overly simplified and patronise the audience, but this is not case.

A very good short story adapted into an excellent steady paced movie.

Forbidden Kingdom DVDRip-R5 [Action/Martial Art]

Getting martial-arts superstars Jet Li and Jackie Chan together in the same action film is like a fantasy come true, even if The Forbidden Kingdom is more of a children's movie than an instant kung-fu classic. Yes, Li and Chan square off in a lengthy, acrobatic fight scene that is a lot of fun, though it can't be what such a scene might have been even a decade ago: careful editing now compensates for the 54-year-old Chan's slower moves and reflexes. Still, Chan doesn't disappoint as Lu Yan, a drunken immortal in ancient China who mentors a modern-day American kid, Jason (Michael Angarano), the latter having slipped into the past while in possession of a magical staff that belongs to the imprisoned Monkey King (Li). In order to get back to his own time and help an old friend (also Chan) wounded by thugs, Jason accompanies Lu Yan and a lovely warrior, Golden Sparrow (Liu Yifei), on a journey to return the staff. Along the way, a (mostly) silent monk (Li, again), who has spent his life in search of the staff, joins their mission. He helps Lu Yan train Jason in fighting and adding more muscle to the party as it comes under siege from a violent witch (Li Bing Bing) and pathological warlord (Collin Chou). Screenwriter John Fusco (Hidalgo) and director Rob Minkoff (The Haunted Mansion) have made a slightly chintzy, Western version of a Chinese swords-and-sorcery tale. The gravity-defying, flying-through-the-air-while-fighting choreography looks pretty choppy and graceless compared to, say, the martial arts films of Zhang Yimou. But The Forbidden Kingdom is really aimed at kids, not aficionados of epic fight movies. On that score, the movie aims to please and does so for the right audience.

Strange Wilderness (2008) DVDRip

With the ratings dropping for a wilderness-themed TV show, two animal fans go to the Andes in search of Bigfoot.

As lunkhead comedies go, Strange Wilderness never creates the necessary frisson to keep a viewer engaged by the film’s endless parade of marijuana jokes, gross-out sight gags, and celebrations of rank stupidity. Which is too bad, because the cast would be ideal for a smarter version of a stupid movie, but they come off as largely wasted here. Steve Zahn (That Thing You Do) plays Peter Gaulke, heir to a wild animal television program called "Strange Wilderness," but too out of it to keep up his late father’s congenial yet focused legacy. With the show’s ratings plummeting (even at a 3 a.m. broadcast time), Peter attempts to rescue the series by traveling to Ecuador in search of Bigfoot. Accompanied by a crew of idiots (Allen Covert, Jonah Hill, Justin Long) and one comely lass (Ashley Scott of TV’s Jericho), Peter heads into one obstacle after another: sharks, piranha, pygmies, Mexican border guards, a crazy tracker (Robert Patrick), and a nitrous high. After awhile, the lowbrow hijinks all run together and one feels a bit trapped, desperately awaiting final credits. But there are a couple of recurring comic ideas that salvage the movie somewhat, especially the use of stock footage of animals accompanied by Peter’s absurd voiceovers. ("The shark can be found only in two places: the northern and southern hemispheres.")
